the yardbirds - for your love - wide mono I
Edit 1 for headphones, January 2023. A song from the 1965 album "For Your Love". Source of the edit is the album "The 18 Greatest Hits" (Overseas Records 30CP-114). Released as a single in March 1965, it was their first top ten hit in both the UK and the US; UK #1, Canada #1, USA #4, Sweden #5, Ireland #10, Italy #14, Holland #23.
The Yardbirds recorded "For Your Love" at the IBC Studios in London on 1 February 1965. The majority of the song was recorded with singer Keith Relf and drummer Jim McCarty backed by session musician Ron Prentice on bowed bass, Denny Piercy on bongos, and Brian Auger on harpsichord.
Guitarists Eric Clapton and Chris Dreja perform only during the song's middle break section.
At the conclusion of the recording session Brian Auger wondered "Who, in their right mind, is going to buy a pop single with harpsichord on it?"

What Brian Auger probably didn't know: The Rolling Stones recorded many songs with a harpsichord on it, like "Play With Fire" in January 1965, with Jack Nitzsche playing harpsichord. It was released as b-side to "The Last Time". "Lady Jane" also had a great part with a harpsichord.

FOR YOUR LOVE
(Graham Gouldman)*

for your love
for your love
for your love
I'd give you everything and more and that's for sure
(for your love)
I bring you diamond rings and things right to your door
(for your love)
to thrill you with delight
I'll give you diamonds bright
there'll be days that will excite
and make you dream of me at night
for your love
for your love
for your love

for your love for your love
I would give the stars above
for your love for your love
I would give you all I could

for your love
for your love
for your love
I'd give the moon if it were mine to give
(for your love)
I'd give the stars and the sun for I live
(for your love)
to thrill you with delight
I'll give you diamonds bright
there'll be days that will excite
to make you dream of me at night
for your love
for your love
for your love
for your love

®© Believe Music, WMG, Rebeat Digital GmbH on behalf of Fonot Records
®© therock&rollingsixties

* Graham Gouldman: English singer, songwriter and musician, best known as the co-lead singer and bassist of the English rock band 10cc.
