Spitting tobacco cost this man his life after he moved too close to the platform edge as a train arrived
A moment to spit tobacco turned fatal for a man at Barh railway station after he moved close to the platform edge as a Vande Bharat Express approached. In seconds, the honking train struck him. He failed to notice the trainβs arrival, suffering head injuries and being thrown back onto the platform.<br /><br />Railway personnel rushed the man to Barh Sadar Hospital, but he was later declared dead.<br /><br />Following the tragedy, Danapur division railway authorities and the RPF urged passengers to maintain a safe distance from platform edges.<br /><br />In 2023, over 21,000 people were killed in 24,678 railway accidents in the country, as per the National Crime Records Bureau.
