Defying all the odds, the film starring Ryan Gosling blasted off with a domestic launch of $80.6 million, marking the best showing of the year so far and setting a new record for Amazon Studios. The news was just as good overseas, where the sci-fi epic collected $60.4 million from more than 80 markets for a global launch of $141 million.
