SHOP (Floor ) Calendar, BASE (Shipping/Receiving Days) Calendar and SERVICE Calendar in Dynamics 365 Business Central.<br />---------------------------------------<br />🧑💻Key Differences between Shop and Base Calendar : -<br />📝Calculation Needed: Shop Calendars require Calculating the Work Center Calendar to determine Capacity.<br />📝Purpose: Shop Calendars focus on Production Hours, while Base Calendars focus on Shipping/Receiving Days.<br />----------------------------------------------<br />➡️ In Dynamics 365 Business Central, Shop Calendars and Base Calendars (often referred to as Service/Location Calendars) are used to manage Operational Time, but they serve different purposes.<br />✅ [1] "Shop Calendar" : Shop Calendar (Manufacturing Setup).<br /> Used in manufacturing to define working hours, shifts, and holidays for Work Centers and Machine Centers, driving Production Scheduling.<br />✅ [2] "Base Calendar" : Used in Supply Chain and Service Management to define working days for vendors, customers, and locations, affecting Delivery Shipment and Receipt Date Calculations.<br /><br />🖍️A Shop Calendar defines the Capacity of Production Resources by specifying the standard work week, shifts, and holidays. <br />✔️(a) Setup: Search for Shop Calendars, create a New Code, and define Working Days with start/end times and shift codes.<br />✔️(b) Holidays: Use the Holidays action to define Non-Working Days.<br />✔️(c) Application: Assign the Shop Calendar code to a Work Center or Machine Center.<br />✔️(d) Calculation: The Work Center Calendar must be calculated (using the Calculate action on the Work Center card) to generate the capacity data for production scheduling.<br /><br />🖍️Base Calendars are assigned to companies, customers, vendors, or locations to determine valid shipping/receiving dates. <br />✔️(a) Setup: Search for Base Calendar, create a New Code, and use Maintain Base Calendar Changes to mark specific, Non-working, or Recurring Days.<br />✔️(b) Assignment: Assign the Calendar to Locations (Warehouse FastTab), Customers, or Vendors (Shipping/Receiving FastTab).<br />✔️(c) Customization: You can customize a specific Location's Calendar (e.g., a specific holiday just for one warehouse) using the Customized Calendar field on the Location Card.<br /><br />✅[3] "Service Calendar" : Service Calendar (Service Management).<br /> In the context of the Service Management Module (available in the Premium experience), we can Define Calendars to assign to Service Personnel, ensuring Service Calls are Scheduled during Working Hours.<br />✔️(a) Functionality: Supports Repair Shops and Field Service, allowing you to manage Service Orders and Technician Availability.
