Under cover of darkness, a Palestine Action team cut through fences and broke into Permoid Industries of Newton Aycliffe near Durham, entering the factory to destroy machinery, weaponry and remove private documents. <br /><br />Since the start of the Gaza Genocide in October 2023, Permoid have shipped more than a thousand munitions containers to the Israeli arms industry, at least 920 of which went to Israel’s biggest weapons maker, Elbit Systems, in Ramat Hasharon near Tel Aviv. Permoid produces a wide range of weapons and ammunition containers, suitable for belted heavy machine-gun ammunition, and cartridge, mortar, and shell munitions, including 155mm artillery shells. At the time of the raid by Palestine Action, another shipment was due to be picked up from the factory.<br /><br />Elbit Systems supplies up to 85% of the Israeli military’s killer drone fleet, and land-based military equipment, with numerous weapons factories in Britain. The Ramat Hasharon site produces a range of armaments, including artillery shells, and 155mm and 122mm mortar rounds. Elbit’s weapons and ammunition has been central to the Genocide perpetrated by Israel in Gaza.<br /><br />A Palestine Action spokesperson said: “It is inexcusable to arm the Israeli military and profit from the escalating Gaza genocide. Factories operating on our doorstep who are building the tools needed to destroy Palestine and massacre its people, must know by now that we will directly intervene. If Permoid Industries wants to stay in business and avoid the wrath of Palestine Action, it must cease supplying the Israeli weapons industry.”
