Fox pushes to legalise weed
As the war on drugs rages on in Mexico, former President Vicente Fox is pushing to legalise marijuana in the hopes of ending the bloodshed.<br/> <br />Fox gathered leading marijuana activists for a symposium to discuss the issue as he tries to raise public and political support on the issue.<br/> <br />(SOUNDBITE) (English) FORMER MEXICAN PRESIDENT VICENTE FOX, SAYING:<br/> <br />"(There is an) urgent need of clear, objective information and that's one of the purposes."<br/> <br />More than 70,000 people have been killed in the country's war on drugs.<br/> <br />Mexico's current president Enrique Pena Nieto has opposed legalisation, but has not shut the door completely, saying the legalisation of recreational marijuana use in Washington and Colorado states has given him a more open mind than before.
