My Sweet Lord / Knocking On Heaven's Door -- A Hybrid (Capitalism On The Precipice)

This is a song for the summer -- A "chill-out" hybrid (or "medley" one might say"? ) of two rock anthems. Apart from being a rather classic romp, there is a serious undertone: It's a critique of capitalism and focuses initially on the misery of foreclosure / repossession in this age of crooked and hypocritical banks -- Human nature you might say, but blame is firmly placed at the feet of capitalism. Here, it is not an individual knocking on heaven's door, or needing the Lord's compassion; it is Capitalism itself (on the precipice of extinction)

Many thanks to the thoughts of the esteemed leading social theorist, David Harvey; an individual whose help is not appreciated enough in these all too revealing and disappointing times.

Much respect to George Harrison (R.I.P.) and Bob Dylan -- I hope they will forgive me for putting their tunes in the Dave Butcher "blender" -- I like to think that such earthly and humanitarian icons would be with me on my mission at least, and their music so well conveyed that.

So, lay back in your deck-chair with iced lemonade in hand - soaking up the summer, and "go with the flow"
